The Eagles opened at home against the Alpharetta Raiders and started with their first play from scrimmage going 85 yards, behind great team blocking, for a touch-down. This set the tone for the first half as Milton scored 24 points before the break. In the second half the Raiders held the Eagles and were able to move the ball through the air but the Eagle defense would bend, not break. They held Alpharetta to a field-goal with 5:30 to play and the game went into overtime.
In the OT, the Eagles scored a touch-down on two power runs and then the defense forced and recovered a fumble on Alpharetta’s first play in the over-time, to win 31 – 24.
The Milton Eagles win the second in-a-row in the series with Alpharetta and keep the Mayors Trophy at Milton High School. The season is off to a great start as they face a stiff challenge and rise to the occasion to win. Congratulations to the Milton Eagles players, coaches and trainers!
Mayor’s Match-Up Trophy
Last season, the Milton Eagles opened-up against Alpharetta at their stadium. At stake was the pride of winning an important rivalry contest, despite being big underdogs, and the Mayor’s Match-Up Trophy. Milton won that game 35-28 and the Mayor’s Trophy resides here at Milton.
This season kicks-off against Alpharetta but this time it is on our turf! The match-up pits players that started playing football together when they were in elementary school, against each other at the highest level in Georgia High School sports.
The work started January 7th; the team is ready for some FOOTBALL.
Come fill the Eagles’ Nest on Friday AUGUST 30th, at 7 p.m.!
Escape from Baghdad Champs; Peagler (69), Weatherby (76) and Wilson (79)
The work continues for the Milton Eagles. Since spring-practice began in early May, the Eagles have continued to reach for excellence, with the only break coming from the July 4th down-week. Just prior to that break, 24 Eagles, Offensive/Defensive Linemen, went to the most demanding camp in the country; the Down and Dirty Lineman Camp at Webber International University (Babson Park, FL). The weather and schedule (7 competitive sessions in 48 hours) were extremely demanding and our players rose to the occasion.
The camp attracts nearly 500 top linemen throughout the southeast and our team (Peagler, Weatherby and Wilson) won top honors for the 3-man team competition called ‘Escape from Baghdad’. Congratulations to all of the Milton Eagles, players and coaches, who decided to go to this camp and helped build the foundation for a championship team; the LINEMEN are the heart of the team!
Milton Eagles at ‘Down and Dirty’ Linemen Camp
It is that time of year again. Time to officially begin the 2013 Football Season and it all begins on May 6th. Bear in mind that exact dates and times can vary but spring practices will start Monday May 6 and go through Friday/May 17 or Saturday May 18 (depending on coach’s schedule, weather, etc.). In general, the players will be reporting early in the morning for positional meetings and practicing in full gear in the afternoons, after classes. The hard work began right after the 2012 Season concluded and this is an exciting time for the players/coaches. Every spring the players ratchet-up the intensity, so come out to watch!
